Our Chihuahuas

Chihuahuas are charming, smart, and sassy. Small in size, but big in personality, Chihuahuas are beloved by owners for their unique appearance and entertaining attitudes. Chihuahuas vary in appearance, as some have a shorter, smooth coat, while others have a longer coat. There are two main types of coats: Smooth and long. Smooth coats are shiny and fit close to the body with a ruff of thick, longer hair at the neck. Long coats have softer fur that's flat or slightly curly, with a fringe of hair at the ears and a plumed tail. Long-haired Chihuahuas also have a ruff on the neck and longer hair on their feet, on their legs. Their colouring and markings can be very different as well. Chihuahuas can be solid-coloured black, white, fawn, chocolate, grey, or silver, with a range of shades for all colours. They can also be tricolour (in chocolate, black, or blue with tan and white, for instance), brindle, spotted, and merle. Chihuahua heads can also vary: They can either have a rounder apple head or a deer-shaped head, which is narrower with a longer snout. And despite their small stature—they weigh anywhere from 1 to 5kg

Our Cavoodles

The Cavoodle, also known as a Cavapoo, is a hybrid of two complementary breeds, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the pure Poodle. The result is one of the most enchanting of the “designer” dogs, and one of the most enduringly popular of all the new canine hybrids. The Cavalier’s gentle, sweet spaniel nature is joined to the Poodle’s lively intelligence, loyalty and non-shedding coat (with exception when the dog takes on the cavalier coat and look) to produce a relaxed, intelligent and amiable companion with a lifespan of around 14 years.

At Petite Paws we have both first generation (F1) and second generation Cavoodles (F2).

An F1 Cavoodle is female pure breed King Charles Cavalier + male pure breed Toy or Miniature Poodle.  An F2 is female Cavoodle + male either pure breed Toy or miniature Poodle or King Charles Cavalier.

We also breed Cavoodles in two sizes, Miniature Cavoodles and Toy Cavoodles. Miniature Cavoodles range in size from 5kg-10kg and Toy Cavoodles range in size from 2.5 -5kg

Cavalier King Charles

This breed is an affectionate, undemanding and easy to train family dog. They are excellent with children and the elderly. They are not excessive barkers but will announce strangers. They are no guard dogs, however, as they greet most people warmly. Cavaliers get along with everyone, including cats and other small pets. Being relatively small and easygoing, they make good travel companions. Cavaliers should be groomed thoroughly once a week. The nails and the hair between the pads of the feet should be trimmed once a month. This is a shedding dog but good grooming should keep the hair load on your furniture fairly low. Special attention must be given to the ears are they are drop ears and there is very little air circulation.

Poodles

Poodles are regarded as one of the most intelligent breeds in the world. They’re highly trainable and well suited for just about any task you put them to and you will want to give them tasks to do. Bored Poodles can get destructive if they aren’t physically and mentally stimulated. But active owners who can meet their dog’s needs will find a loving, smart, trainable, and loyal family companion. There are three sizes of Poodle, all considered part of the same breed: going from smallest to largest, these are the Toy, the Miniature, and the Standard.

At Petite Paws, we breed Toys and miniature ranging from 2kg to 10kg. No matter the size, Poodles are renowned for their playful but dignified personality and keen intelligence. These are people-friendly dogs who want to stay close to their families, they get lonely when left by themselves for long periods so ideal for the stay at home work from home family.
